Projects from our own Massachusetts buildings, where independent testers found the problem and remediation crews fixed it
What these projects taught us about the testing, assessment, and remediation that protect properties and occupants
What property managers told us after hiring an independent tester for mold and air quality work
The standards and guidance we hold our projects to
Professional mold remediation should follow industry standards established by the IICRC S520 Standard, ensuring proper containment, removal procedures, and post-remediation verification. We ask for it on every remediation project in our buildings.
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health publishes indoor air quality guidance on its Massachusetts Indoor Air Quality page. It is guidance rather than a mold licensing law, so ask any tester or remediation company which standards they work to.
Good air quality testing goes beyond basic screening. The AIHA Mold Resource Center from the American Industrial Hygiene Association explains how mold testing and evaluation should be done.
Purely Green Environmental lays out their survey, sample, solve method on their homepage: they test, recommend a remediation protocol, and come back with post-tests to confirm the work.
Start with our checklist for comparing mold testing and remediation estimates, then see how renovation work fits around it.
